Pardon My Take: We Need Answers

One of the top sports podcasts in the world, Pardon My Take. Don’t get the title twisted, I’m a longtime AWL and I’m not going anywhere. It’s my personal favorite Barstool show and it’s what lead me to learn more about the other branches/content creators in the company. However, I think it’s about time for Big Cat and PFT to step up to the plate and face the music on a couple of topics that the public has been patiently waiting for.

Let’s start off with a layup, Electric Avenue. How the hell (excuse my language, this has been on my mind for a while now) do you change that iconic intro song with no explanation to your beloved fans? Have we not given you enough? Have we not stuck with you through thick and thin? It’s honestly disrespectful and a spit in the face. I wish you could’ve seen my face that Monday morning when I got in my car to go on my routine gas station run, turned on Pardon My Take and heard that new garageband-esque. It ruined my week and I’m obviously still not over it. I get it, it’s probably a copyright issue or something along the lines (I always wondered how you got Eddy Grant to sign off on that). Just tell us that. Also, take another stab at the intro. The new dubstep one isn’t the vibe either. Reminds me too much of Mostly Sports, and I can only take so much Brandon Walker, even if it’s a mere thought throughout the day.

This brings me to my next point (and another layup), the “Big Cat not being from Chicago” debacle. I even thought the stoolies acted a little harsh when the news came out that Big Cat is not from Chicago, and that’s coming from a Packers fan. I don’t think you can blame them on this one, big guy. The timing is understandable from a business standpoint made sense and I would’ve done the same to help myself and the company succeed. The issue remains the same as the Electric Avenue disappearance; the lack of transparency is killing me. Right when you made that business decision to become a Chicago die-hard, you should’ve laid all your past fandom history on the table and moved on with your job. Sure, the internet would have been a tough space for you for quite some time. Just like everything on the internet, it would’ve faded away and the public would’ve quickly forgotten about it. Instead the news broke on the Kirk Minihane show.

Don’t worry Mr. Katz (if that’s even your real legal name), I forgive you. Just know that I’ll always be your Daddy, me being a Packers fan and all.

Last but not least, my main man, intern Huey. Yes, I understand what an internship is. The kid was just getting his feet wet, and it seems like you guys threw him in the fire. I could see the content from a mile away. Jersey Jerry vs. Huey pick-up games, Huey with the ladies in the office talking Women’s hoops, operation get Huey ripped/get Max fatter, etc.). I know it’s not fair to assume there’s no plan to bring him back, but again, I guess the AWL’s will never know. Also, would it kill you to bring back Billy occasionally? Pardon My Take has been missing something and I finally put my finger on it. I wouldn’t mind losing a few brain cells hearing him tell a story again. Let’s bring it back to the good ole’ days in Vanny Woodhead.

I feel like I got my point across clearly and apologies if I got a little heated there. Pardon My Take is an essential part of my week. It brings me pure joy listening to those bozos debate over the dumbest topics, manipulate Max into literally anything, and most importantly talk ball. As childish as it may seem, I just don’t want that to change. Can’t wait to see what they have in store for the fans in 2025.
