Super Bowl LIX Winners and Losers: Max Fans Rejoice

Time to talk winners and losers following Super Bowl LIX this past weekend. Man, what a glorious game from start to finish. The public finally got what they wanted; A fairly officiated game and an outright beatdown of what ESPN analysts were calling “The best dynasty they’ve ever seen”. Let’s dive into it and try not to laugh at the misery of spoiled Chiefs fans.

I think everyone and their mother believed that the Eagles were clearly the more talented team. I think they also believed that the Chiefs voodoo magic would rear its ugly head at the most opportune time for them (if you read my last blog, I thought the same thing). It was a breath of fresh air to be dead wrong. The eagles dominated in every facet, and never even thought about letting up. It rocked. People can say whatever they want about the Eagles organization, the “nasty” fans, etc. The players, coaches and fans collectively came into NOLA with a mindset – beat the brakes off those frauds and claim their Super Bowl rings. The cherry on top was Travis Kelce not bringing a backup outfit in the case they get crushed. Yes, tears and glitter is a crazy combo.

This Super Bowl went exactly how it should have gone on paper (which is something you can practically never claim in the NFL). The Eagles blitzed zero times (0!) and Patty still couldn’t tell the difference between a quarter and a peso. It was insane how much pressure their front 4 were bringing every down. Which in turn lead to my personal favorite play of the game. Cooper DeJean’s pick 6 had me reminiscing about my Madden created player back in the day. I used to dream about a white defensive back returning an interception for a touchdown. I had no intention of those dreams ever coming true, and it still feels like I’m in a fever dream. Let’s relive that moment, this time with the classic NFL films narration.

There were plenty of winners over the weekend, the main one being the public. But let’s not forget about the biggest winner of the weekend (no pun intended), Barstool Max. There were plenty of ups and downs during the Eagles season for Max, but it was all worth it in the end. What a way to go out. The haters are speechless. Sure, it would’ve been awesome for the game to be closer so we could see a few Max meltdowns on Pardon My Take. Don’t worry, Big Cat and PFT will be manipulating him into thinking the Eagles may miss the playoffs next year in no time. By March 1st, Max will be claiming week 1 of 2025 is a must-win (or can’t lose?) game. Let him have this one; there will be nearly unlimited Max banter forthcoming. It’s what he does. Like a well-oiled machine.

This brings us to the losers; Kansas City and all the bandwagon fans that follow along their coattails. The Eagles saved us from a long and repetitive First Take episode with Stephen A. Smith on Monday morning. The Chiefs and their fans should be embarrassed. I don’t care you won the last two Super Bowls. It’s clear that they made it this far with a lot of help and it showed in the big game. You can’t tell me that Baltimore of Buffalo would’ve had a worse showing than the Chiefs on Sunday. I think the Eagles are the best team in the NFL and worthy champions. I also think that the game would have been 1000x more competitive with the Bills or Ravens in it. Now that the dust has blown over, I’m glad they made it and had the opportunity to get their behinds handed to them. Now we get to talk about it the entire offseason. NFL (and Max) fans rejoice; we don’t know how long this will last.
